about

In Bhutan, a temple (lhakhang) is not a decorative feature, but the quiet center of daily life. Positioned on the top floor of Zhiwaling Heritage, our temple was constructed using restored 450-year-old wooden beams and carved pillars salvaged from Gangtey Monastery in Phobjikha. The space remains an active place of daily practice. Monks from nearby Paro monasteries visit the lodge to care for the altar, conduct morning butter lamp illuminations, and lead quiet prayers. Guests are welcome to step inside at any time of day—whether to sit quietly on the wooden floorboards, observe morning prayers, or light a butter lamp.

Private Monastic Blessings (Tshe-Wang)

Guests can arrange a private house and longevity blessing (Tshe-Wang) conducted inside the temple by local monks. The ceremony involves traditional chanting, the ringing of ceremonial bells (drilbu), and the tying of a sacred protection thread (sungkhey) around the wrist for safe passage and good health during your travels.
