about

Life at Zhiwaling unfolds in quiet harmony with the timeless rhythms of the Paro Valley. Rooted deeply in Bhutanese heritage, our daily life is not a showcase staged for visitors, but a living sanctuary of culture, devotion and artisanal mastery. Here, luxury is defined by authenticity. Guests are invited to step into the gentle pace of our grounds—whether sitting alongside our resident artisan to trace sacred motifs in mineral pigments, gathering around the warm wooden churn as fresh butter tea (suja) is prepared, or letting the soft cadence of valley melodies carry you into the evening.

Hands-on Ceramic Painting with Deki

Inside our lodge studio, the living soul of Bhutanese heritage comes alive through the quiet artistry of our resident painter, Deki. With steady hands and reverence for centuries-old craft, Deki breathes life into raw ceramics, using natural mineral pigments to trace sacred motifs like the Tashi Tagye (Eight Auspicious Symbols)

Guests are invited to sit alongside Deki, learning not just the precision of traditional linework, but the devotion woven into every brushstroke, creating a meaningful keepsake guided by a master of the craft.
