about
Dotsho is a centuries-old bath practice long used across rural Bhutan for rest, warmth, and easing physical strain. At Zhiwaling, the bath is prepared in an open-air wooden tub, with bamboo trees planted around the perimeter for privacy.
Smooth river stones are gathered from local riverbeds and heated over open wood fires until glowing. When dropped into the water, the stones crack open, releasing deep heat, natural minerals, and the scent of wild Khempa (Artemisia) leaves gathered from nearby fields.

Year-Round Bathing Under the Night Sky
Available throughout the year, Dotsho can be booked during the day or into the evening. Because the tub is set outdoors under an open roof structure, evening bathers soak in the warmth of fire-heated water and native herbs directly beneath the valley stars.
